Submission Guidelines

We welcome submissions of the following types of material:

  • New science fiction or fantasy stories. Genre bending works are welcome.
  • Previously published science fiction or fantasy stories.
  • Cover art for each issue and line art for each story.
  • Single or multi-panel comics and serial graphic novel partnerships.
  • Non-fiction in terms of genre relevant commentary and reviews.
  • Review requests for inclusion to our database of web self-published titles.

Details on each kind of submission along with pay rates can be found by following the links on the left. Our Manuscript Formatting 101 page contains hints on professional formatting of your manuscript.

Please note that Evolutions makes no pretense of grandiose "literary" aspirations. We are looking for solid, enjoyable stories first and foremost. If you can inject art into your prose to enhance a story, we're all for it, but if that's all there is in a submission, we will not be interested.

A cover letter is not necessarily required. However, if you choose to include one, please be brief and professional. Cover letters traditionally include the following:

  • Salutation to the editor (Dear Mr. Garrison)
  • Statement of reason including title of submitted work.
  • Citation of recent relevant works, group memberships, and linkage to home pages, etc.
  • "Sincerely,"
  • Author's Name

Every effort will be made to turn submissions received in the first three weeks of a month in that month. Submissions received in the final business week of a month will most likely be turned in the following month. Subs received in the last business week of November will be turned in January of the following year.

Rejections will normally be by form e-mail without comment. This is not an indication of relative merit or quality, but simply a reflection of available time on the part of the editors.

This publication is about putting out stories people will enjoy reading and proving out the potential of non-subscription based reader-supported web publishing. The goal is to eventually sustain paying pro rates to authors and artists while continuing to deliver consistently enjoyable content to the readers.

Oh, and if there's enough money in the kitty to pay a little to me and my staff for our time, that would be awesome too.
